Tuition

Tuition includes lesson time, lesson planning for each specific student, recitals & enrichment classes, newsletters, and all supplies including music. Your child will be a member of my thriving music studio rather than just an item on my calendar! I charge a flat monthly rate to take the guesswork out of planning. Please contact me for the current rates. Tuition is due the first lesson of each month via checks, cash, PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. You may cancel lessons at any time, however if you cancel within the first 6 months, you will need to pay a $50 music and supplies fee.

Semesters

Tuition guarantees that I will be prepared and present to teach a minimum of 38 lessons per year. This typically breaks down into ~17 weeks for each school semester and 4-6 lessons over the summer. I do not teach during Christmas break or on major holidays.

Missed Lessons

Two free lessons are built into the flat rate tuition that may be used for cancellations or bonus lessons if none are missed. Please be assured that your tuition pays for far more than the time spent with your child, and if your child must miss a lesson I will use that time to lesson plan for your child. There are no refunds given unless I am unable to teach the promised number of lessons.

Opportunities

  • Masterclasses, or enrichment classes, will occur 2-4 times per year. This is an opportunity for the student to perform for peers, play musical games, and more fully enjoy the collaborative aspects of piano. The masterclass will occur in lieu of the private lesson for that week.
  • Recitals are an opportunity for the student to showcase their musical accomplishments for parents, grandparents, and peers. They will occur 1-2 times per year.

Practice

The study of music is rewarding and enjoyable, but it is also work! Please help your child find a daily, uninterrupted practice time to establish a routine. Specific requirements will vary by student. Remember, praise and encouragement are the parent’s greatest tools in helping a young musician succeed! I understand that life is busy and sometimes practice doesn’t happen like it should. This should not be a reason to miss a lesson; please be honest, and we will spend the lesson time sight reading, playing musical games, catching up on theory, etc. These lessons are still extremely valuable!

In home lessons

Travel to your home is an additional monthly fee dependent upon distance. Discounts will be given if I am able to teach multiple families in the same area on the same day, so recruit your neighbors! :)

Daytime lessons

Students who can take lessons before 3 pm M-F receive a 20% discount on the monthly price.
